Stretching across the sweeping moorland, massive granit walls define the stone fenced fields. These constructions give witness to the forced labours of the prisoners of Dartmoor who quarried and trundled the granite blocks across the landscape then heaved them into position along these monumental boundaries.
The spirits of Napoleon’s captured soldiers, who fashioned Dartmoors granite boundaries, are still present in the massive stonework. They join our atavistic souls whose spirits hover under the moonlight till the end of time.
